UTM Builder
Generate UTM parameters for your marketing campaigns to track traffic sources
What are UTM Parameters?
UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) parameters are tags added to URLs to track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. When users click links with UTM parameters, the data is sent to Google Analytics, helping you understand which campaigns drive the most traffic and conversions.
Understanding UTM Parameters
- utm_source (Required)
- Identifies where the traffic comes from (e.g., google, facebook, newsletter)
- utm_medium (Required)
- Identifies the marketing medium (e.g., cpc, email, social, banner)
- utm_campaign (Required)
- Names your campaign (e.g., summer_sale, product_launch)
Best Practices
- Use lowercase letters to keep tracking consistent
- Use underscores instead of spaces
- Create a naming convention and stick to it
- Don't use UTM parameters for internal links
